What to study

379,498 people started one of these 212 programmes in 2026. Look one up, or narrow them down by field, kind of programme or where you want to study, and see for each where it is taught, whether it is growing, how many stay and graduate, and what its graduates earn.

The trend compares the yearly average of 2017–2019 with 2024–2026 and is printed only where both average at least 100 entrants; the line beside it is the whole series since 2007. "Still in it" and "dropped out" add up the cohorts of 2023–2025, found in the next year's register: still in the same programme at the same institution, or enrolled at no institution at all (some come back later); a programme with fewer than 30 entrants in those years has neither. "Titled" is the last cohort followed long enough, with a title in the same programme from any institution. Employment is the lowest and highest figure SIES publishes for the programme among institutions — never their average — and the fee, the cheapest and dearest campus.

Undergraduate only: the 201 generic programmes that reached 300 first-year entrants in some year, together between 98% and 99% of each year's first-years.

The main changes

2007–2026

How fast

84

The change between the average of 2007–2009 and that of 2024–2026, for programmes averaging at least 500 entrants a year in both: a programme that went from 4 to 12 is not the fastest-growing in Chile, it is eight people.

How many people

The same programmes ordered by the difference in entrants a year rather than in percent. A large programme growing by a third adds more people than a small one that triples, and the two lists answer different questions.

Who enters: women

Women as a share of each programme's entrants, 2007–2009 against 2024–2026, in percentage points, for programmes with at least 500 entrants a year in both windows. The register records sex as two categories.

Where it is taught

The share of each programme's entrants who started it at a university rather than at a professional institute or a CFT, in percentage points, among programmes taught on both sides with at least 500 entrants a year in both windows. A programme moving into universities is not one growing: its total can fall while this rises.

Every programme, by field

A generic programme is SIES's own grouping of the names each institution registers. Only programmes that reached 300 entrants in some year have a page. Names stay in Spanish on both editions.
